(July 22, 2023 – Carrollton, TX) Runs where a wholesale item for the Spirits (50+) squad this past weekend as the team dropped 4 runs in the first and second innings, added 2 more in the third, and put up a 7-spot in the fourth to cruise to a 17 to 1 win over the Phillies in DFW-ABA 50 League play Saturday morning.
The entire Spirits roster hit safely, less one player, with six Spirits hitters collecting more than one. The top of the Spirits order finished collectively 11-for-18, with 2 doubles, 9 runs scored, 11 runs batted in, and 2 stolen bases.
Eric McPherson finished 2-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in. Vince Parello added a 2-for-4 performance, scoring once and knocking in a run. Kent Fischer finished 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in. Will Nash went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored, stolen base, and an RBI, and Shawn Lee added a 2-for-3 day, with a double, run scored, and 3 runs batted in. Todd Murrah completes your multi-hit listing, adding a 2-for-3 performance that included a stolen base, pair of runs scored, and an RBI. Stacy Scott added a triple, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs.
Pitcher, Mike Sopocy picked up the win, tossing just 3 innings while allowing no earned runs off of 2 hits, walking 2, and striking out 7. Sopocy also finished with a single and 2 runs batted in.
The team returns to action next Saturday when they host the Red Sox at Lively Park. First pitch is slated for 9:00AM.
