(June 6, 2026 – Carrollton, TX) The Dallas Spirits (50+) squad used another fast start Saturday to build a 6 to 0 lead as the offense cruised to an 11 to 0 win over the Wildcats. Despite 14 hits and 9 runs batted in, the main story was the brilliance of Spirits ace pitcher, Mike Sopocy.
Sopocy simply shut down the Wildcats as he allowed just 3 scattered hits while he and his defense held the team to an egg on the scoreboard, including just a single walk and 5 strikeouts in the shortened complete-game shutout.
“Mike’s stuff was just nasty today,” mentioned team skipper, Shawn Lee. “He had guys leaning back and turning their heads only to hear a strike called by the umpire. It was almost unfair. He’s been great lately and we rely on his arm a lot.”
Sopocy wasn’t bad from the dish either as he finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 runs batted in and he swiped a base as well. Todd Murrah led the squad on offense adding a pair of triples, a run scored, a walk, and 3 runs batted in. Murrah played well on defense as well, citing his second “big day” with the team.
“Seems we have a trend going here,” Lee continued. “If (Todd) Murrah has a big day, we seem to win with ease. We’ll need to add some pressure to him moving forward so we can run the table!”
Kent Fischer also added a triple, walk, and 3 runs scored while Kevin Simmons, Lee, and Shawn Hunt each added a pair of hits as well. Simmons finished with a run scored, Lee scored once and knocked in a run while stealing a bag, and Hunt added 2 runs batted in and a run scored along with another stolen bag as well.
The team returns to action next Saturday when they play host to the NTX Oilers starting at 9:00AM. Fans can click here for schedule details.
