Shawn Lee

Shawn Lee enters his twelfth season as the Dallas Spirits Baseball President and Club Manager. Shawn manages each squad of the Dallas Spirits Baseball Club including the Spirits (40+), Spirits (42+), and Spirits (50+). Kirk Sipila serves as co-manager of each team.

A natural leader, Shawn provides great organization to the ball club and is well respected between his teammates and throughout both leagues. Lee grew up in Wisconsin and played baseball most of his childhood through the age of 18, where he peaked in Legion play. He had a brief stint of amateur baseball following high school before focusing on the camaraderie of local softball leagues for the next 20 years. After making his migration to Dallas in 2011, Lee first discovered the NTABL and rejoined the game that he loves to play.

Lee had a successful return to baseball, finishing with a batting a average above the .300 mark in his first season back following 20 years away from the game. In his very first season back, Lee went on to win the NTABL Veterans League Home Run title in 2011. Shawn has been voted to play in numerous All-Star games in both the NTABL and DFW-ABA, including five consecutive All-Star appearances (2013-2017) for NTABL All-Star Games played at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, TX.

Shawn is a solid hitter with power to go deep, providing clutch hitting and speed on the base paths as well as tracking down of baseballs hit to the outfield. A competitive defender, you can count on a few great throws or relays leading to put-outs on greedy opposing runners. Lee also plays infield, any position including first, and if his team is up by enough runs, you could see a mound appearance.

Shawn led the Spirits (35+) in hits, triples, extra base hits, and finished second on the team in batting average of .415 during the 2015 season. In 2017, Lee hit .440 and was second on the team with 22 hits, recording 3 doubles and a triple. Lee was third on the team in runs scored with 14, while tying for third with 8 free passes to first. Lee finished 8 for 15 in the MSBL Las Vegas Kickoff Classic in March, 2018, tying for first in hits and finishing the tournament with a .533 average. In more recent history, Lee finished with an average of .378 on the Spirits (40+) squad in 2021, where he tied for first in RBIs with 21. On the Spirits (45+) squad, Lee finished with a .464 average, finishing second on the team in hits with 26, and first with 20 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Shawn spent a season with the Diablos in 2021 where he batted .582 with 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored, 2 HR, 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 15 stolen bases.

In 2022, Lee struggled a bit on the (40+) squad, finishing with a .245 batting average but finishing fifth on the team with 12 hits that included 3 doubles. Shawn hit .432 for the Spirts (45+) squad, tying for second on the team in hits with 19, adding 4 doubles and one triple, finishing third with 16 runs scored, tied for third with 12 runs batted in, and led the team with 6 stolen bases. For the Spirits inaugural (50+) season, Shawn hit .447, finishing second on the team with 21 hits, a team-leading 6 doubles, and one triple. He finished third on the team with 14 runs scored, fourth with 10 RBIs, and first with 8 stolen bases.

Lee’s 2022 Fall baseball campaign came to a quick halt in the first game after tearing the labrum in is right shoulder. He completed the first game and played two others, throwing with his opposite hand while finishing with a .333 average before eventually getting shoulder surgery in late November. Lee is expected to return to each of the teams in mid-April or near the beginning of May, 2023.

Shawn serves as a league official and Board member for the NTABL, serving previously as Vice President of the Open (18+) League. In 2023, he took on the role of NTABL League President, also working as the League’s Director of Social Media and Schedule Master for all leagues.

Originating from Wisconsin, he is a fanatical Green Bay Packers and Brewers fan. Off the diamond, he works in Technology alongside being a business-owner and lifetime DJ. Shawn has had enormous success in Dallas/Fort Worth as a DJ as was recruited as the first “Official KiddNation DJ” for the nationally syndicated Kidd Kraddick Morning Show. He currently works full time in the Technology Department at a school district in Fort Worth, TX and resides in Coppell, TX with his girlfriend, Angie, their 3 dogs, and their cat, Iryss.
