(June 13, 2026 – Carrollton, TX) Most teams in any league have started to fear the Spirits team offense in the first inning. As a matter of fact, most game are over before the first frame has even completed. It may sound cocky in the real world but if it’s true, it’s just a fact.
In most of their games this season, the Spirits offense for either the Spirits (45+) or Spirits (50+) squad seems ready to go and firing on all cylinders at the toss of the game’s first pitch. This time it was a 9-run first inning that carried the Spirits (50+) squad to a 11 to 0 mercy-rule victory of the Oilers.
Pitcher, Mike Sopocy made light work of the Oilers offense, pitching all 5 innings and allowing 0 earned off of just 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out a pair. Eric McPherson led the Spirits offense with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring 2 runs and knocking in 2 more. Kevin Simmons was also 2-for-3, adding a run scored and a run batted in, while Vince Parello rounded the top of the box score with a single, run scored, run batted in and a walk.
Dee Mauldin added a single and 2 runs scored while Shawn Hunt, Steven Nutt, and Ben Northcutt each added singled and runs scored as well. Hunt added an RBI and Stacy Scott finished 0-for-1 with a walk, run batted in and a run scored.
The team returns to the diamond next Saturday when they play host to the Cubs at 11:45AM at McInnish Park, Field #11. Fans can click here for schedule details.
