Spirits (50+) Pad Status in Route of Cubs

(October 4, 2025 – Carrollton, TX) The Spirits (50+) fall squad’s offense played bullies this past Saturday as the team combined to pad their stats with 26 hits leading to a 22 to 1 route of the Cubs. If only the Milwaukee Brewers could be so lucky.

After a 5-run first inning, it appeared the squad was in route mode but during the top of the second inning, the team went full nuclear, cashing in for 11 runs to eventually coast to the 21- run victory.

Every Spirits hitter in the lineup hit safely, with Ben Northcutt adding a double, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in. For anyone else, that’s a career day, however, for the ghosts, every other hitter finished with a minimum of 2 hits, with Earl German adding a ridiculous 4-for-4 performance including a double, run scored, and 4 runs batted in alongside his stolen base.

Brad Petty, Dee Mauldin, and Kirk Sipila each added a 3-for-4 performance. Sipila also added a double along with Brian Kellner and Kevin Simmons. Sipila finished with 3 runs batted in, 2 runs scored and a walk, while Mauldin finished with 2 runs scored and batted in, adding a walk as well. Kellner added 3 runs scored and an RBI, while Kent Fischer added a pair of hits as well, adding a run scored and 3 runs knocked in. Mike Sopocy capped off the box score highlights, finishing 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 run batted in.

The Spirits led the game off with 5 runs in the first, 11 in the second, one more in the fourth, and 5 runs in the fifth inning before the game was called due to the league’s 10-run mercy rule.

The squad takes to the diamond again next Saturday when the visit the Strangers and host the Cubs afterwards in a double-header game event.
