Big Bats Bring Down Brewers in DFW ABA Action

(September 23, 2020 – Euless, TX) The Spirits (40+) bats were in full swing Wednesday night as the squad took down the Brewers by a score of 15 to 5 in DFW ABA action. The team put together a 9 run first inning and never looked back and a lopsided score that ended with the league’s mercy rule could have been much worse as the ghosts left 7 runners on base during the blowout.

Travis Hitzeman was the big man on campus as he finished with 2 hits including his third home run on the season, finishing with a run scored alongside 4 runs batted in. Dan Sosa finished 2-for-2 on the night, adding a pair of runs scored, 2 RBIs and a base-on-balls and also earned the victory pitching 5 innings, allowing just 4 earned on 6 hits while walking 4 and striking out 1.

“Sosa was on fire tonight,”Shawn Lee commented following the game. “He was getting squeezed pretty badly, that’s why the four walks, but other than that, he got it done on both sides of the dish tonight. He’s a competitor and a great addition to this team.”

Kirk Sipila finished 1-for-1 adding an RBI, 2 runs scored and a pair of walks on the night while Lee, Sosa and Brant Finchum each finished with a double. Finchum also added a run scored and a pair of RBIs while John Henfer also added a run scored and a pair of runs batted in.

The team returns to action next Wednesday when they host the Rattlers on Arlington Field. Click here for schedule details or to download the iScore Central app to listen to the game live online.
