Spirits Provide Unfriendly Welcome to TX Knights in Fall Debut

(September 18, 2019 – Carollton, TX) Disappointment over an underachieving summer season quickly left the minds of the Dallas Spirits as their fall baseball campaign in NTABL Brazos League play took off with an offensive bang Wednesday night at McInnish Park #11 in Carrollton. The Spirits used 14 hits and 7 TX Knights fielding errors to put together 19 runs in just 4 innings of work.

Kirk Sipila led the offensive box score on a perfect, 4-for-4 evening, finishing with a walk, a double, a run scored and a pair of runs batted in. Cliff Brade finished the night with 4 runs batted in, while Jonathan Duran added a 2-for-2 night, with 2 free trips to first, 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in, while also stealing a pair of bases. Every Spirits hitter hit safely at least once during the contest.

The Spirits led the game 19 to 0 before surrendering a run in the fifth inning after choosing not to hit in the top half of the inning to give the newcomers an opportunity to get their feet wet. The TX Knights are a new edition to the league and are just getting their feet wet in competitive play. There’s no doubt the team will learn and grow as the season moves on.

The team will return to action on Sunday afternoon as they visit the DFW Hurricanes at North Lake College. First pitch is slated for 4:30PM and you can click here for schedule details.
