(July 18, 2026 – Carrollton, TX) A 2 to 2 tie turned into a mercy ruled victory Saturday morning as the Spirits (50+) squad put together a 3-run fourth, 2-run fifth, and a 5-run sixth to coast to a 12 to 2 win.
Earl German picked up the victory on the hill after 5 innings of work that included a single earned run off of 3 hits. German walked just one runner and struck out 7 others before Kevin Simmons closed out the final frame.
Dee Mauldin and Steven Nutt carried the offense, each adding 3 hits on the day. Mauldin finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, 3 runs batted in and a stolen base while Nutt finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a double on the day, a run scored and a run batted in, and a walk.
The victory seals the #2 seed for the postseason tournament as the Spirits look to finish atop the DFW-ABA 50 division. The team will face the Laguneros in round one with a best-of-three series beginning on August 1st.
