Spirits (40+) Celebrates Easter Early Against Rattlers

(March 15, 2023 – Euless, TX) Time to reach into your Easter basket, only to find a big bag of stink and a serious level of “laid an egg” game play by your Spirits (40+) squad. Earl German and Brant Finchum were the only two players to essentially show up Wednesday night as the Spirits were two-hit by Rattlers starter, Luis Ambriz, who may have negotiated a no-hitter had German or Finchum not connected for a knock.

The Spirits were outplayed, start to finish with very few players seeming even interested in being on the diamond. Three defensive errors assisted alongside no help to starting pitcher, Duane Aponte, who tossed 5 innings of work, allowing 1 earned off of 6 hits, while walking one, and striking out 2. German, who came into relieve Aponte after the fifth inning saw 2 earned runs cross the plate behind 5 hits, while walking one.

German reaching base on a single and a walk was the lone “highlight” of the game for the Spirits. Team manager, Shawn Lee wasn’t interested in a comment following the contest.

The team returns to action next Wednesday night when they play host to the Brewers on Legends Field. First pitch is slated for 8:45PM and you can click here for schedule details.
