(June 9, 2025 – Coppell, TX) Fresh off it’s disappointing performance in 50-ball just two days prior, the Spirits (45+) squad brought some uninspired play to the friendly confines of Cowboy Field this past Monday night, giving up a 5 to 1 lead only to see the game end in a 5 to 5 tie.
Kevin Simmons went for 3 and a third innings, allowing 2 earned runs against 3 hits while walking 4 and striking out one. Mike Sopocy closed things up with 2 and two third innings, allowing one earned against 4 hits while walking and striking out one.
The offense was anemic at best, providing just 4 hits on the night, two of which came from the bat of Dale Baird. Baird finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and a pair of stolen bags but it wasn’t enough to carry an offense that was just missing in action.
Sopocy added a hit, walk, and run scored, while Simmons also added a walk and a run scored. Untimely errors and 12 runners left on base turned out to be the key in a game that finished the same way it started; with no winner.
The team will get another chance at finding a win next Monday night when they visit the Hurricanes once again on Cowboy Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30PM and fans can click here for schedule details.
