(September 13, 2025 – Irving, TX) The Spirits (50+) fall squad put on an absolute clinic on Saturday morning, decimating the team Mismatched by scores of 28 to 1 and 22 to 1 for a combined score of 50 to 2 in just 8 innings of play.
In game one, the Spirits put up 7 runs in the second and then followed up with a 21-run third inning to close out game one with 26 hits. Seven Spirits hitters finished the game with 3 hits with just one of the Spirits failing to hit safely, with all runners reaching at least once. Mike Sopocy and Ben Northcutt each finished with 3 hits with Sopocy adding a double, 3 runs scored, and 5 runs batted in. Northcutt added 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. Eric McPherson, Kirk Sipila, Earl German, Brad Petty, and Stacy Scott also finished with 3 hits and 2 or more runs batted in. McPherson, Sipila, and both Kent Fischer and Vince Parello also finished with doubles in the first game.
In game two of the doubleheader, the ghosts added 7 runs in the first, were actually held to 0 in the second, but then went on to add 9 in the third and 6 in the fourth before the second game finished by mercy rule. Five Spirits hitters again finished with 3 hits in the game, including Sopocy, Scott, Northcutt, Fischer, and Sipila with Northcutt and Fischer adding doubles. Northcutt finished the day with 3 doubles, 6 runs scored, and 9 runs batted in.
German earned the game one win on the mound, allowing one earned run on 4 hits while walking one and striking out 6. Scott picked up the victory for game two, allowing one earned on 3 hits while walking none and striking out one.
