Travis Hitzeman

Travis Hitzeman rejoins the Spirits following solid campaigns in each of his six seasons with the team. He brings with him tenure from previous top teams in his NTABL career. Hitzeman also has previous experience playing Independent League Baseball with both the Springfield Capitals and Tyler Roughnecks, where he played positions of third base and pitcher.

Hitzeman enters his fifth season with the Spirits and was voted as an All-Star in multiple years. In 2017, he finished with a .393 average and tied for second in extra base hits with 5 and second in RBIs with 16, while only playing in 10 of 18 games. During 2018, Travis hit for .385 with 10 hits, 2 doubles, a triple and a home run. He scored 5 runs and batted in 6 in just 9 games played. 2019 added an additional All-Star selection to his dossier as Hitzeman finishing the season with a .364 batting average that included 12 hits on the Spirits (35+) team. Travis batted .421 for the Spirits (40+) squad, hitting for 4 doubles and 9 RBIs and he went on to hit .357 during the Fall campaign, including 3 doubles as the Spirits captured the Fall season championship.

Hitzeman won the coveted Spirits “Big Stick” award for both the Spirts (35+) and Spirits (40+) squads in 2020, becoming a force to be reckoned with throughout the league and across the nation when he competed in tournaments. Hitzeman led the Spirits (35+) squad with a .500 average, finishing second with 24 hits overall, 2 doubles and one home run. Hitzeman also led the team with 18 runs batted in. For the Spirits (40+) squad, Hitz finished at .562, finishing first with 27 hits, 9 doubles and 3 home runs. Hitzman struck out just once the entire season following 49 plate appearances.

Travis again earned “Big Stick” honors for the Spirits (40+) and (45+) teams in 2021. He finished at .561 on the (40+) squad, finishing third on the team with 25 hits that included 13 extra bases, a home run, and tied for a team-high 21 runs batted in. For the (45+) Spirits, Hitzeman hit for .590, adding 23 hits that included 12 extra bases, and 2 home runs, alongside 17 runs batted in.

In 2022, Travis hit .387 with a team-leading 11 runs batted in for the Spirits (40+) squad. For the Spirits (45+) team, Hitzeman added 11 runs scored with a .455 average, a home run, and 10 RBIs. During the Fall campaign, Travis cruised to a .556 batting average, scoring 9 times and adding 3 RBIs in just 3 games played.

The team looks forward to his additional contributions as a top-notch infielder with a great glove and a outstanding arm that limits numerous opposing hitters to an offensive opportunity.

At 6’4″, 230 pounds, Hitzeman is no joke when he puts together both speed and power when delivering from the mound or while batting. Originally from Dallas, TX, Hitzeman attended Missouri Valley College and has backgrounds in modeling and acting. If you don’t catch him in your weekly Kohl’s ads under the Big & Tall section, you can find Hitzeman at his full time position, where he’s currently employed at Ferguson Enterprises. Travis and his wife and two daughters reside in Dallas, TX.
