Shawn Hunt rejoins the Spirits in his second full season coming to Dallas by way of the state of Oregon. Hunt joined the Spirits as a tournament player in the MSBL Las Vegas Kickoff and made his way to full time as the Spirits (35+) catcher in 2020.
Hunt starts at catcher and can be relied upon to play 3B if necessary. He packs a solid arm behind the dish and provides the team with a needed asset of taking down greedy base runners for opposing teams who attempt to swipe bases.
In 2021, Shawn will act as the Spirits (40+) catcher while filling in when needed with the Spirits (45+) squad. Hunt struggled a bit from the dish in 2020, finishing the season with a .139 batting average, but he made his hits count when they did by adding 7 RBIs on just 5 hits. Hunt also added 8 free trips to first base by drawing 6 walks and being hit-by-pitch twice. With a great deal of time spent working on his swing in the offseason, Hunt looks to step up his contributions as the Spirits (40+) refurbishes a bit and looks to eye up a better shot at a DFW-ABA title in 2021.
