Ryan Marsland

The Spirits welcomed Ryan Marsland to the club, beginning in 2023. Marsland will join the Spirits (42+) squad in the NTABL, and will also help out with the Spirits (40+) in DFW-ABA play. The pitcher and utility player spent 3 of his year in high school on Varsity as a pitcher where he also played shortstop and third base at McKay High School in Salem Oregon.

Ryan went on to play 4 years of elite travel baseball and represented Oregon on the state All-Star team. In college, Marsland was a relief pitcher at Liberty University in Virginia in the Big South Conference, where he pitched in relief as a true freshman against top D-1 teams.  Ryan unfortunately suffered a career-changing injury his sophomore year after shattering his tibia from a line drive while pitching on a scout day, which essentially ended his status as a draft prospect with the Chicago Cubs.

Ryan went on to play four years of semi-pro baseball in North Carolina, California, New York and in the Great State of Texas where he pitched, played outfield, and first base.

Marsland married his wife Deanna in 2009, and the couple lives in Oak Point which is part of Little Elm ISD.  The couple has  two boys.  Gage is 12 years old and is an amazing artist and athlete. He loves baseball, basketball, football, and collecting sports cards.  Ryan’s son, Steele is 6 years old loves soccer.

Ryan is originally from Salem, Oregon and is ultra-competitive as an individual. He hates losing more than he loves winning and the Spirits look forward to utilizing that competitive spirit!
