Matthew Crowell

A lifelong ballplayer with deep Dallas roots, Matthew Crowell has been throwing strikes and tracking down fly balls since age five. A graduate of Lake Highlands High School, Matt was a four-year varsity contributor before taking his talents to Hendrix College. There, he split duties between the outfield and the pitcher’s mound, earning recognition not just for his play but also his academics as a member of the SCAC All-Academic Honor Roll in 1999.

Baseball has always been a constant, but Matt’s competitive spirit extends far beyond the diamond. A former PGA Teaching Professional, he spent years perfecting swings on the golf course and remains an avid golfer today. That dual passion for sport reflects the same traits his teammates know him for—poise under pressure, technical precision, and an ability to encourage others while chasing excellence himself.

Since joining the Spirits, “Matty Ice” has quickly become a reliable arm and versatile outfielder, the kind of player who relishes the grind of competition but just as much the camaraderie of the dugout. His calm demeanor and quiet leadership style make him an anchor in any lineup.

Off the field, Matt is a devoted family man. He and his wife are raising three athletically driven children: two currently competing in high school sports and one, a recent graduate, who left her own mark on the softball field. Living in Frisco, Texas, Matt balances a busy household with his love for the game, showing his kids firsthand what dedication and teamwork look like.

From Dallas sandlots to collegiate fields to the adult league circuit, Matt Crowell’s story is one of steady commitment. Whether he’s on the mound, in the outfield, or mentoring others, one thing is certain—Matty C brings both talent and heart to the game. His NTMGL golf team, “Slice N’ Dice” is pretty happy to have his swing and camaraderie on the links as well!
