John Hefner returns for his fourth season after debuting with the Spirits (40+) squad in 2019. After stints in aiding the Spirits (35+) squad the Fall squad that captured the 2019 Fall Championship, Hefner continues as the starting catcher for the Spirits (50+) team while continuing to roster on both the (40+) and (45+) teams as a sub.

The former golf pro quickly made an impact, finishing fourth on the team in hitting while compiling a batting average of .524 during 2018. In 2019, John hit .255 after playing in every game. He finished seventh in total hits with 12 including a double and he was responsible for 6 runs batted in. John scored 17 times and added 12 runs batted in, while adding 6 free passes to first along with 2 more free trips after wearing pitches. You can expect solid contact each time he’s at the plate, and you can see where his hand-eye skills come into play as the former golf pro displays quick hands and reaction to opposing pitching.

Hefner provides the team with depth at the catching position and can be relied upon to call a solid game for his pitchers and to act as a vacuum behind the dish, absorbing any balls or miscues that attempt to make their way past him. He has a solid arm and can be counted upon to gun runners down at second when needed and the team also utilizes him for some utility infield and outfield play.

Hefner brings with him a great work ethic and a fun and outgoing personality. He’s a great person to be around both on and off the field and he’s known for his “MacGyver-style” magic at rigging and creating things. John was an asset to the Spirits during the MSBL Las Vegas Kickoff Classic in 2019 and 2020. Hefner Finished this season’s tournament with a .455 average that included 5 hits, 2 RBIs and stolen base.
