Don Massoud made his debut with the Spirits (40+) squad in 2022, and returns to the team in a reserve role for the (40+) squad while taking on a full-time position with the Spirits (42+) squad. Don plays both outfield and infield and can be relied upon for some solid pitching as well. Massoud attended Mesquite Poteet High School and was an All-State Performer in his Senior year, and was also All-District in both his Junior and Senior years.
Don spent three years at the University of Pittsburgh and also had a brief two-year stint with the now defunct Chillicothe Paints Baseball Club. His playing time was limited, spent mostly during Spring Training. Injuries and family responsibilities ultimately took precedence and ultimately put an end to his professional baseball aspirations. He has also played on a variety of amateur baseball teams in both Dallas and Philadelphia, including the North Texas Thunderbirds.
Don has a competitive nature about him and comes off as the silent but deadly type. He puts 100% into every play and every at-bat. You can expect a solid arm alongside extra-base-ending throws from either the outfield or the infield, and batters that face him when he’s pitching can expect a hard-thrown ball to keep them guessing and nervous at the dish. Massoud is a solid asset for the Spirits as they attempt to return to championship form.
In 2022, Don finished with a .409 batting average in 8 games played. He added 9 hits including 4 doubles, scoring 5 times and adding 9 runs batted in.
He’s currently a working professional with two daughters and a serious hobby of playing baseball until he physically cannot anymore. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and has spent time living in in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
