(May 16, 2022 – Farmers Branch, TX) Another big inning led to another loss, this time by the Spirits (45+) squad, who wasn’t able to get over the hump after a 7 to 0 deficit. The team fell to the Cardinals by a score of 7 to 4 in NTABL Masters League action on Monday night.
The Spirits were held to just 6 hits on the night as a 5-run third inning propelled the Cardinals to a lead that the Spirits just couldn’t overcome. Kirk Sipila finished with a double and a run scored, while Travis Hitzeman finished 1-for-2, was hit by a pitch, also added a pair of runs scored. Shawn Lee added a hit, walk, stolen base, and a run scored, and Chris Allen, Brian Hackney, and John Holmquist each finished with a hit.
Jerry Anderson picked up the victory for the birds, hurling 5 and a third while allowing 4 earned off or 6 hits while walking 4 and striking out a pair. Mike Sopocy takes the loss for the Spirits, despite only allowing 3 earned runs. Sopocy finished with just 2 and a third while allowing the 3 earned runs off of 8 hits, while walking one and striking out a pair. The Spirits finished with 3 errors on the field as well.
