David Tipton

David Tipton returns in his seventh season with the Dallas Spirits. David was voted to the NTABL All-Star games for both the Spirits (35+) and Spirits (45+) squads during 2017 and his role in the teams’ success during the 2018 campaign was huge. He impacted the club immediately when joining in 2016, and his demeanor and attitude is celebrated both on and off of the field. Tipton once again was voted to the NTABL All-Star Games at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in 2019.

Tipton makes himself comfortable in any part of the Spirits lineup where he can be relied upon as a solid lead off hitter or for knocking runners from wherever he is in the lineup. David shows patience when needed and also provides power at the dish during opportune times. Once aboard the base paths, the Spirits rely on David’s ability to run and take bases and extra bases as well. He finished the 2018 campaign with a batting average of .400, finishing with 14 hits, 2 doubles and a triple. David was tied for the team lead on the Spirits (45+) with 16 stolen bases. In 2019, Tipton hit .256 for the Spirits (35+) squad, adding a pair of doubles while finishing seventh on the team with 11 hits. He was tied for second on the team with 10 stolen bases.

In 2020, David batted .302 for the Spirits (40+) squad, adding 12 hits, 6 RBIs and 9 walks. David’s bat was on fire during Fall play, finishing with an average of .484 while finishing second on the team in hits with 15 including a pair of doubles and a triple. Tipton was second on the team with 10 stolen bags and cruised to a top finish with 15 runs batted in to lead the squad. He finished second on the team in runs scored with 11. Tipton’s numbers dipped a bit in 2020 for the Spirits (35+) squad as he finished with average of .182 but his hits were timely as he added 11 RBIs to finish third in runs batted in while finishing second in extra base hits with a double and a pair of triples. For the Spirits (40+) squad, Tipton finished with an average of .358, finishing fourth with 16 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Tipton finished second in doubles on the team with 5 and his 10 free trips to first base were third best on the team.

In 2021, Tipton hit .311, adding 11 runs batted in alongside a team-leading 15 walks, and 13 stolen bases for the Spirits (40+) squad. On the Spirits (45+) team, David hit .400, adding 6 extra base hits that included 4 doubles, and 2 triples. He finished second on the team with 7 walks, and tied for third with 16 runs scored while also finishing second with 6 stolen bases.

Tipton is the starting center-fielder for the Spirits and he can be relied upon to chase down any ball hit near him in the outfield. His arm is an huge asset and his power is second to no one when it comes to his ability to snipe greedy base runners from opposing teams. David’s offensive statistics continue to improve, but his camaraderie remains top-notch.

David currently resides in Celina, TX with his wife, Cybil and his son, David, Jr.
