(June 10, 2019 – Euless, TX) Left on base…LOB as it’s titled in most stat categories for baseball. This particular stat appears to be the statistic that the Spirits (40+) plans to lead the nation in as failed opportunity with runners on base appears to be the plague of the 2019 campaign for the ghosts.
The Redbirds (9-2) put it on the Spirits (5-6) Monday night in a make-up contest from an earlier season rain out and cruised to a 7 to 1 victory on Arlington Field at Texas Star Complex in DFW ABA play. The birds scattered 14 hits led by 3 hits by Will Nash and picked up 4 runs in the second inning and never looked back.
For the Spirits, stats were few and far between as the team recorded 8 hits on the night led by 2 hits apiece from Eric McPherson and Patrick Bilgere. Brant Finchum picked up the lone run batted in after David Tipton drew a base on balls and then scored on a double by Finchum in the second inning.
The team will return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Otters on Legends Field at Texas Star Complex. Click here for schedule details.
