Eric Goetz

Eric Goetz returns in his fifth season with the Dallas Spirits after previously serving as a part-time player and tournament player to the Spirits (35+) and (40+) squads. Goetz plays both infield and outfield, but you’ll typically find him at first base when it comes to infield play. A solid bat and great speed on the base paths, Goetz can be counted upon to play at a high level and to most certainly share some friendly conversation to those around him including fans, umpires and opposing players.

Goetz led the 2017 Spirits (18+) to their first Championship, capturing the team batting title with a .538 average. Eric tied for the team lead with 28 hits, adding 3 doubles and 10 RBIs to his resume. Goetz was also voted as a 2017 NTABL Open American All-Star. Goetz returned to All-Star status in 2018 and during the 2019 season, he played in 5 games with the Spirits (35+) team. Goetz batted .600 with 9 hits, a walk and 5 stolen bases. During the fall campaign, he batted .375 with 10 hits that included 2 doubles and 9 runs scored, while finishing third on the team with 8 stolen bases in the short fall season.

Goetz hit .200 in limited action with the Spirits (35+) squad as a sub and will be full time for the Spirits (40+) likely fitting into the lead-off hitting spot.

Eric’s personality and competitive attitude are infectious both on and off the field. He’s a solid personality in the dugout and he brings with him a great bat and a competitive spirit. The team relies on him for all aspects of his game, including speed both defensively and on the base paths.

His experience includes high school play at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, California. He went on to play an additional season of baseball at the college level as a member of the Sonoma State University Seawolves.

He’s been playing MABL/MSBL affiliated baseball since 2003, bats and throws left-handed, and has a number of years experience participating in local softball leagues. Eric is originally from San Jose, California and the kid from Cali recently married his sweetheart, Madalyn and the couple resides in Dallas.
