It didn’t take Kirk Sipila and Brant Finchum very long to get a hot start to their respective 2016 seasons this past Monday. Both players appeared to be in mid-season form and both took home “Spirits Player of the Game” honors following their 2016 season opener and victory over the 2-time returning champs, the Dallas Rangers.
Sipila crushed 4 hits for 2 RBI and scored 3 runs and aided the Spirits cause by closing out the victory with a save in two innings of pitching. And speaking of crushing the ball, Brant Finchum took Rangers pitching deep into the gap during a dramatic time of the game cleaning the bases with 3-run triple. He finished the night with 2 hits and 4 RBI. Slugger Brian Hackney also deserves honors with a 2 for 3 performance including a double and 2 RBI and 3 runs scored himself.
The Spirits (45) squad is back in action next Monday, April 11 at McInnish Park, Field #11 in CarrolltonĀ as they host the Dallas Bulls. Be sure to visit the team’s Facebook pageĀ for the latest social info and updates, and schedule information by clicking here.
