Brian Hackney remains as a solid force of power on the Spirits (45+) squad and will continue to assist with the Spirits (40+) when needed. A talented first baseman, Hackney can always be relied upon for great contact and punishment of any ball he puts into play. Hackney brings a depth of experience from his college years at the University of Arizona. He has a number of years experience in North Texas baseball, and his skills and input to other players assist in the development of both individuals and the team as a whole.
Brian has made several trips to the annual All-Star in NTABL play and made his way back to the big game at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, TX during the 2016 season. He led the team in batting average at one point during the season, hitting well over the .600 mark. Hackney, or “Hack” as the team refers to him, is clutch at the dish sending baseballs deep and often as he always ranks among the top in the extra base hits category. In 2016, Hack finished with a .468 average including a home run, 3 doubles, and 18 base hits. His offensive contribution also included 16 runs and 16 runs batted in (RBI).
During the 2018 campaign, Hackney finished fifth on the team with 22 hits including 5 doubles while finishing with a .400 average. Brian also slugged in 14 runs batted in to assist the team in tallying 228 runs to finish the season; an average of nearly 11 runs per game. In 2020, Hackney finished third in hitting on the Spirits (35+) squad, finishing the season with a .341 batting average while finishing tied for second in RBIs with 12.
Hackney is a Senior Consultant for Hackney Consulting Services, Inc, a former sponsor of the Dallas Spirits Baseball Club and he currently resides in Wylie, Texas along with his wife, Carla, and their 4 daughters and son.
