Red Sox Blast Past Spirits (40+) in Fall Opener

(August 25, 2021 – Carrollton, TX) As summer came to a close, the DFW ABA quickly got started with its 10 game Fall season and the Spirits (40+) squad took to the field to face off against a new and improved Red Sox squad, complete with a few former big leaguers.

The game appeared normal in the first inning after the Red Sox picked up a pair of runs and the home team, Spirits added a single run of their own after Aaron Wilson drew a one-out walk. Kirk Sipila went down swinging, but a double by Will Nash scored Wilson before Chris Lewis grounded out. After one complete, the Sox had a 2 to 1 advantage.

Enter the second inning. The Sox immediately showed off their “new look” by knocking in 11 runs, only 3 of which were actually earned. The Spirits 7 fielding errors throughout the game certainly made its consideration to the Spirits Wall of Shame moments as the Spirits looked like a team that was playing together for the very first time.

After going up 14 to 1 in the third, the Spirits later added a pair of runs in the fourth after Sipila reached on a one-out single and then scored on another double by Nash. David Tipton then singled after Lewis flew out to score Nash and it was essentially over less the crying at this point.

The Spirits will quickly forget this game every existed and will move on to play the Rangers next Monday night. Game time is 6:30PM on Arlington Field at Texas Star and you can click here for schedule details.
