The Spirits (35+) squad and the Thunderbirds traded punches last Thursday night in North Texas Amateur Baseball Foundation - NTABL Veterans League action only to see the game end in a draw.

The Spirits opened up the game with 4 runs in the first and run number 5 in the second to obtain a 5 to 0 lead, but the Thunderbirds offense got off the canvas and swung back to pick up 3 runs and then eventually tied the game at 5 to 5. Fast forward to the sixth and the Thunderbirds pick up 3 more on a two-out rally to hold an 8 to 5 advantage only to see the Spirits repeat the two-out rally to tie the game at 8 to 8 before the Spirits defense shut-down a game-winning attempt by the birds in the game's final half frame.

A solid contest that could have gone either direction leaves the Spirits with the same knowledge they already had, that they can compete with anyone in the league.

Kirk Sipila carried the big bat once again finishing with a 3-for-3 performance including two doubles, a walk, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Travis Hitzeman also finished with 3 hits adding 2 runs and an RBI and Eric McPherson finished with 2 hits including a double and a run scored. Shawn Lee and Brant Finchum each added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Congrats to Sipila, Hitzeman and McPherson on their Core Physical Medicine-Coppell Players of the Game honors!!
