Shawn Lee

Shawn Lee enters into his ninth NTABL season and second DFW ABA season, while returning in his seventh season as the Dallas Spirits Baseball President and Club Manager. Shawn manages the Veterans (35+) and Fall Ball (Brazos) squads in the NTABL, and serves as the Spirits (40+) co-manager as the team moved to DFW ABA play starting in 2019.

A natural leader, Shawn provides great organization to the ball club and is well respected between his teammates and throughout the league. Lee grew up in Wisconsin and played baseball most of his childhood through the age of 18, where he peaked in Legion play. He had a brief stint of amateur baseball following high school before focusing on the camaraderie of local softball leagues for the next 20 years. After making his migration to Dallas in 2011, Lee discovered the NTABL and rejoined the game that he loves.

Upon his return to the game as a walk-on for the Cubs, Shawn saw a successful return season and batting a average above the .300 mark. In his first season back and following 20 years off from baseball, Lee went on to win the NTABL Veterans League Home Run title in 2011. He later advanced to five consecutive NTABL All-Star appearances (2013-2017), voted to play at Dr. Pepper Ball Park in Frisco, TX by his teammates. Lee returned to the All-Star Games again in 2019. He’s a solid hitter with power to go deep, providing clutch hitting and speed used both on the base paths as well as tracking down of balls in the outfield. As a competitive defender, you can count on a few great throws or relays leading to put-outs on greedy opposing runners.

Shawn led the Spirits (35+) in hits, triples, extra base hits, and finished second on the team in batting average of .415 during the 2015 season. In 2017, Lee hit .440 and was second on the team with 22 hits, recording 3 doubles and a triple. Lee was third on the team in runs scored with 14, while tying for third with 8 free passes to first. For the Spirits (45+) squad, Lee finished second on the team with 19 hits, while batting .352 and finishing second with 9 stolen bases. In 2018, Lee batted .390 for the Spirits (45+) squad, finishing fourth on the team with 23 hits and tied for second on the team with 12 stolen bases. Lee finished 8 for 15 in the MSBL Las Vegas Kickoff Classic in March, 2018, tying for first in hits and finishing the tournament with a .533 average. Lee’s average fell a bit for the Spirits (35+) squad in 2019, as he hit for just .286, however when he did hit he hit with purpose. Lee was fourth on the team with 13 hits and led the team in extra base hits including a pair of doubles and a triple. Lee also led his squad with 12 runs batted in. Lee hit .382 for the Spirits (40+) squad, finishing third with 21 hits and tied for second with 5 extra base hits. He was second on the team with 15 runs batted in. Shawn finished the 2019 Fall campaign with a .406 average including 13 hits and 7 runs batted in.

Lee is an active Board Member for the NTABL serving at the Vice President of the Open American League and he also serves as the league’s Director of Social Media. He joins the club from his home state of Wisconsin and is a fanatical Green Bay Packers fan. You can see his competitive spirit when it comes to the other game he loves and the team he loves come football season. A business-owner and nearly a lifetime DJ, he’s had enormous success in Dallas/Fort Worth area as well as being the recruited as the first “Official KiddNation DJ” for the nationally syndicated Kidd Kraddick Morning Show.

Shawn works full time in the Technology Department at a school district in Fort Worth, TX and resides in Coppell, TX with his girlfriend, Angie and kids, Grayson and Jessie. He also shares his love with their three dogs, Shadow, Mason and Mylah as well as his recently lost love, Maddy.
