Guy Koenig returns to the Spirits (45+) team after his debut season in 2017. Koenig didn’t play during his high school years but did play Legion ball for Chanhassen, MN. Instead of baseball as his primary sport, Guy focused focused his athletic talents playing AAU Basketball.
Koenig attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA for an undergraduate degree and time in law school and he’s a member of the Iowa Bar Association. His baseball experience didn’t include playing in college, but he later spent eight years playing and coaching in the Des Moines Semi-Pro League. His additional experience includes 20+ years playing in MABL/MSBL and NABA leagues in Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, and here in Dallas and Fort Worth, TX.
Koenig led the Spirits early during 2018 as the team ventured to Las Vegas for the MSBL Las Vegas Classic. Koenig collected 6 hits during the tournament, drawing 3 walks, while finishing with a .667 average during tournament play.
The Spirits will utilize Koenig’s offensive prowess and defensively, he’ll see time on the corners of the infield with possible play in the outfield and pitching as well. Koenig was born in Rapid City, SD and spent his high school years in Minnetonka, MN. He currrently resides in Southlake, TX along with his wife, Julie, and his daughter, Kinsley, and son, Kellen. Koenig is also a current Board Member of the Southlake Baseball Association.
