Loss Against Cardinals Proved Over Before it Started

(July 25, 2019 – Plano, TX) The Spirits (35+) didn’t roll out the same team that showed up and tied the league-leading Cardinals earlier in the season Thursday night and it immediately showed. The Cardinals offense unleashed against starting pitcher, Jonathan Duran and the team’s defense had no answer to assist Duran as the game immediately looked like a football score with the birds putting up 7 in the first inning alone.

The Spirits offense was able to muster 8 hits and put together 3 runs of their own, but only did so after trailing by a score of 13 to 0. The Cardinals coasted to a 13 to 3 final behind 5 innings of solid pitching by Troy Key. Key allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. Duran would likely rather see this game off of his stat sheet, as his defenseless totals went 3 innings, allowing 13 runs off of 16 hits, while walking one.

The team will look to get back to playing actual baseball when they host the Thunderbirds next week. Click here for schedule details.
